The original name for Bar Harbor was Eden in 1796. Many would say this name adeptly describes the beauty of the area surrounding Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor was discovered through the work of famous painters in the 1850s. But it was not until 1918 that the name Bar Harbor was established.
Bar Harbor Maine has remained a quaint New England town and yet has become world renowned as a place to visit and see the beautiful scenery of Acadia National Park. Although winters can be quite chilly, the remaining months in Bar Harbor Maine are very pleasant. Few summer days are above 90 degrees and the humidity is usually under control. Many people prefer the fall climate with the cool days and beautiful colors as the trees begin to turn.
